Pozzuoli – Throughout Saturday, officers from the Pozzuoli Police Station, assisted by Municipal Police personnel, carried out an extraordinary patrol of the Arco Felice area and the historic center.
The operation led to the identification of 80 people – 9 of whom had criminal records – and the reporting of a business owner for serious urban planning and environmental violations, resulting in the seizure of the area.
Officers checked a total of 22 vehicles, reporting eight traffic violations. Particular attention was paid to environmental compliance: the business owner was reported to the judicial authorities for illegal construction and for abandonment, dumping, and uncontrolled storage of waste. The area was immediately seized by law enforcement.

The news reports mention 80 identified people and 22 vehicles, but I wonder if the checks will be continuous or just sporadic. The waste removal and the investigation into illegal construction must be clarified and better communicated to the local community.
Controls can be useful, but then people talk and nothing changes. The officers have done their job, but many aspects remain unclear: abandoned waste? Missing building permits? A more detailed report for the population would be needed.
It seems like an extraordinary intervention, but many unclear questions remain: Who was in charge beforehand? The owners apparently didn't follow the rules, but the situation is more complicated. More transparency and concrete explanations are needed, not just immediate seizure.
