Nola – A counterfeit empire built piece by piece, selling perfect imitations of watches online that, in reality, are worth tens of thousands of euros. The Finance Police of the Rome Provincial Command, coordinated by the Naples Anti-Mafia Department, have put an end to a lucrative illegal business based on high-end counterfeiting and self-laundering.

The operation's toll is heavy: seizures worth over 880 thousand euros, four people under investigation, and the blackout of a dense network of web portals.

From Chinese laboratories to digital living rooms

The heart of the organization beat in the province of Naples, led by a man from Arzano. Supported by his family, the promoter had established a sophisticated sales structure. The watches (nearly indistinguishable Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet copies) arrived from China and were then sold on the Italian market through a galaxy of 60 websites and blogs created specifically to attract collectors and unsuspecting buyers.

A dizzying turnover that, in just two years, exceeded 3,5 million euros. The proceeds were not only accumulated, but strategically reinvested in the purchase of original luxury goods, in an attempt to launder the dirty money.

The treasure in the cavity

During the searches, the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) of the Economic and Financial Police Unit found a veritable treasure trove. In addition to 450 counterfeit notes ready for sale, the officers found €150 in cash. The banknotes had been carefully hidden inside a cavity created artificially in a brick kitchen.

Along with the cash, thirty high-value original watches purchased with the proceeds of the "counterfeit" scam were also seized, as well as four online trading companies linked to the suspects.

The investigating judge of the Court of Naples has ordered two of the principal suspects to remain in their homes and report daily to the judicial police. In addition to the physical goods, the seals were also placed on the web domains used for sales, thus interrupting the flow of counterfeit goods that fueled the parallel market for illegal luxury goods.

I read the article with interest but it seems very confusing and fragmented, there are too many details but not explained well, it seems like an empire built in pieces and then sold online, Rollex and Patek watches are not clearly written, 3,5 million mentioned but it is not clear how the money went, self-laundering is poorly explained, I hope justice does its job.
