Naples – A scam gone wrong, a luxury car gone missing, and a punitive operation in pure Camorra style. The Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate painted a grim picture before preliminary hearing judge Ambrosino.
For the six defendants, all linked to the Mazzarella clan, charged with various counts of kidnapping, assault, and death threats, Public Prosecutor Raimondi offered no concessions, calling for a real blow at the end of his closing speech: a total of 114 years of prison in the trial currently underway using the summary procedure.
The 80 euro Audi and the insult
The spark that ignited the escalation of violence revolved around an exclusive car. It was an Audi RS3, a racing car worth over €80. According to investigators' reconstruction, the vehicle had been rented from a special company with a specific goal: to use it to carry out a scam.
The criminal plan, however, took an unexpected turn when two individuals literally made the car disappear. But the two hadn't reckoned with who they were dealing with: the car dealership was owned by individuals connected to the Mazzarella clan. An unforgivable "slip" for the six defendants, who decided to take justice into their own hands, resorting to brutal methods.
Terror and the Blitz in San Giovanni a Teduccio
The two victims of the car's disappearance were tracked down, kidnapped, brutally beaten, and threatened with death. Dragged to a house in the San Giovanni a Teduccio neighborhood, which had been transformed into a prison for the occasion, the two endured hours of sheer terror.
What saved them from a potentially tragic outcome was the quick thinking of the partner of one of the kidnapped men. Sensing the danger, she raised the alarm, allowing the Carabinieri to organize a swift raid. The officers stormed the apartment in eastern Naples, detaining and handcuffing the kidnappers, and freeing the hostages.
Threats to the victim and requests for punishment
The group's ruthlessness, however, didn't end with the arrests. The investigation revealed another disturbing twist: after their release, one of the victims had been approached by an emissary of the defendants. The goal was clear: to apply pressure and persuade the victim to withdraw the complaint, in an attempt to tamper with the judicial process.
This further aggravated the situation of the six men on trial. During the hearing, the prosecutor requested 20 years in prison each for Salvatore Giannetti, 43, nicknamed 'O Scorpione,' the man now identified as the area boss in San Giovanni a Teduccio for the Mazzarella clan.
And then his brother-in-law, Antonio Martori, 42 years old, Mario Amaro, 38 years old, Giuseppe Ciccarelli, 37 years old and Salvatore De Filippo, 43 years old.
For the sixth defendant, Arturo Lama, 54, the request was for 14 years of prison.
The defense team now speaks. The defense team includes attorneys Diego Pedicini, Luigi Poziello, Giuseppe Milazzo, and Alessandro Pignataro. The lawyers' oral arguments have been scheduled for May 29th, when, barring any postponements, the judge will deliver the sentence that will close the first chapter of this ugly chapter in the criminal history of the case.

It seems like a serious and unpleasant incident, but I don't know the details. It seems the accused were involved, and the car disappeared. Then things got worse, and the victim had to seek help. Justice should clarify the situation and punish without favoritism, as it always does for everyone.
