Naples - "Returning the sea to the Neapolitans, also in anticipation of the America's Cup and other upcoming major international events for which the city has been designated, is a duty," declared Flavia Sorrentino, vice president of the Naples City Council, in a statement.

"Mayor Gaetano Manfredi endorses the words I expressed in the chamber, following a clear desire of the City Council, which unanimously approved the proposal I originally signed, relaunching the project of free, accessible platforms on the rocks of the Mergellina seafront."

Sea for everyone, not just scenery

For Sorrentino, the return of the sea to citizens' daily lives is not just a symbolic goal, but a concrete priority, also supported by data. "The excellent data on water quality released by Arpac demonstrate," he adds, "that this prospect is now more achievable than ever. The sea cannot remain a backdrop for the city; it must return to being everyone's. And this time, we won't take no for an answer."
