Naples – The Taxi Napoli 2000 consortium will be attending the Mediterranean Tourism Exchange, which will be held at the Mostra d'Oltremare.
This is a very important milestone for Neapolitan taxi drivers, who have joined together in a consortium from March 13th to 15th.
In a press release, Pasquale Ottaviano of Sitan, the trade union, outlined the importance of the event, which allows taxi drivers to promote the city's image, along with other representatives of the tourism sector.
"This is an important moment for the entire industry. For too long, our sector has been marginalized by major tourism events, leaving space for other operators in the sector," says Pasquale Ottaviano. "Our presence therefore represents a concrete step toward restoring taxi services to the center of the city's mobility and hospitality system."
During next weekend's event, the consortium will promote the image of Neapolitan taxi drivers by strengthening "the role of taxi service as an essential, efficient, and safe means of transportation for citizens and visitors." The consortium will also promote "service transparency by promoting the predetermined rates established by the City of Naples and by building relationships with tourism industry operators: tour operators, travel agencies, and accommodation providers."
"Our goal is to help tour operators understand that taxi services are often a visitor's first contact with the city, making a significant contribution to the image and quality of hospitality in Naples. Participation in the BMT is not just a symbolic presence, but an investment in the future of the industry, aimed at strengthening our credibility and improving our relationship with the tourism industry," concluded Pasquale Ottaviano.

It seems like a positive initiative for Naples' taxis, but it's not clear how the project will be managed and who will pay. Relationships with tour operators and agencies need to be clearer. The predetermined rate should be respected. Let's hope the service remains stable and not just for events. Good luck.
