Naples – There's no respite for the weather in Campania. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a new yellow alert, which will go into effect at midnight tonight and will remain in effect until 15:00 PM tomorrow, Friday, March 13.
The wave of bad weather will hit two macro-areas of the region with particular intensity:
Zone 1: Naples, the Gulf Islands, the Campanian Plain and the Vesuvian Area.
Zone 3: Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, the Sarno Mountains and the Picentini Mountains.
A picture of extreme instability
According to experts, the weather scenario is characterized by considerable uncertainty. The main risk is the suddenness of the phenomena: thunderstorms could hit the area suddenly and violently, accompanied by hail, lightning, and strong gusts of wind.
Risks for the territory
The fragility of the soil, affected by previous rainfall, is putting local authorities on high alert. The Civil Protection Department has reported potential critical issues related to hydrogeological instability, including:
Flooding of underground spaces and urban streets.
Rising water levels in rivers pose a risk of flooding.
Rockfall and landslides in the most inaccessible areas.
Authorities recommend extreme caution and urge residents to monitor local municipal updates for any restrictions or closures of parks and underpasses.

I read the warning and it seems like the situation is serious, but there's no need to panic. However, the forecast changes too quickly, and people are confused. Underpasses fill with water, roads become dangerous, and flooding increases. Municipalities give little warning, and confidence wanes.
