Late yesterday evening, on Via Rubicone, in the Destra Volturno area of Castel Volturno, a 35-year-old man of Ghanaian origin attempted to evade a Carabinieri checkpoint. Upon seeing the officers, who had observed him lurking suspiciously on the public road, the man fled on foot, forcing the Carabinieri into a chase that continued for approximately 500 meters along the roads of the Domitian coast.

Stopped and searched

Once apprehended and restrained, the 35-year-old was subjected to a personal search. The results were unequivocal: 48 cellophane packages containing cocaine, already divided into individual doses ready for sale, were found on the man. The narcotics were immediately seized and placed in custody pending delivery to the Crime Records Office.

Identified without documents

The man, who was found to be undocumented and homeless, was identified through photo and fingerprint analysis. Following the formal procedures, he was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and resisting arrest. He was held in custody pending a summary hearing scheduled for the morning of March 4, 2026. The competent judicial authority was promptly informed.

The Domitian coast in the crosshairs

The operation is part of an intense anti-drug campaign that the Carabinieri of Castel Volturno are carrying out relentlessly on the Domitian coast, an area that has long been under pressure due to drug trafficking.
