Pozzuoli – The Carabinieri of the Pozzuoli Company continue to monitor predatory crime and ensure Saturday night safety. A large-scale operation, conducted during nightlife hours, led to the identification of 93 individuals and the inspecting of 69 vehicles, revealing how some classic street crimes are still sadly relevant.
The blitz in Corso Umberto I: the scam foiled
The most significant incident occurred on Corso Umberto I. A Carabinieri patrol noticed two cars parked in a suspicious condition: four people in one of them were about to carry out the so-called "rear-view mirror scam." The victim had already been identified and the fake collision was imminent, but the timely intervention of the military interrupted the plan.
A search of the vehicle revealed not only the intent to defraud, but also the possession of a knife with a 10-centimeter blade. The four occupants – Gennaro De Liguori (30), Antonio Sepe (37), Valentina Romano (30), and Angela Imbimbo (25), all already known to the police – were charged at large with attempted fraud and illegal possession of weapons.
Road safety and widespread checks
The number of checks has worsened with the reporting of five more people for crimes ranging from carrying weapons to repeatedly driving without a license, to drunk driving and reckless evasion. Regarding drug enforcement, two young people have been reported to the Prefecture for drug use. In total, seven traffic fines have been issued, along with the administrative seizure of two vehicles.
Workplace safety in the spotlight
The Carabinieri's operations also extended to nightlife venues. On Via Campana, officers from the local Company, supported by specialists from the Labor Inspectorate (NIL) and the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit (NAS), raided a popular nightclub in the area.
Following the inspection, the owner was reported for serious deficiencies related to non-compliance with workplace safety regulations. The irregularities found resulted in administrative fines totaling approximately €5.300.

It seems to me that the operation was useful but it is not enough. We need more nighttime checks and continuous prevention. The Carabinieri's intervention was timely, but the checks on the premises and safety at work should be more thorough and repeated, so that people would feel safer.
