Sessa Aurunca - They were burning everything, indiscriminately, in a farmyard, fueling a toxic and dangerous blaze. But the thick, foul-smelling smoke did not go unnoticed, and attracted the attention of law enforcement.
The Carabinieri of the Sessa Aurunca Forestry Station, alerted by the 112 Operations Center, intervened yesterday in the Avezzano-Sorbello area, where they surprised two people setting fire to piles of rubbish.
A fire out of control
Arriving on the scene, guided by the column of smoke rising in the air, the soldiers found the scene: in an area behind a rural building, two separate piles of waste were on fire.
The first was a heterogeneous pile of paper, cardboard, and various types of plastic. Due to strong winds, the flames then spread to a second pile, adjacent to the first, consisting of plastic irrigation pipes.
Reported and seizure
The prompt intervention of the Carabinieri Forestali (Forest Police) allowed the two perpetrators to be identified, who will now be charged with the crime of illegal waste combustion. The entire area and the semi-burned remains of the materials have been seized to allow for the necessary investigations and site cleanup, restoring decorum and safety to an agricultural area in the Aurunci region.

I don't know exactly what to say, the situation seemed strange and a bit confusing, people were burning waste without any care, the smoke was thick and smelly, the police arrived later, maybe late, but at least they seized everything and hopefully the clean-up and safety will be affected.
