POMPEII – Construction sites become places of storytelling, discussion, and discovery. From March 5 to July 23, 2026, "Telling the Construction Sites" returns, the initiative that opens to the public, every Thursday, the maintenance, enhancement, and restoration work underway at the sites of the Pompeii Archaeological Park. Now in its fifth edition, the experience allows visitors to delve into the heart of the daily activities that keep one of the world's most important archaeological complexes alive.

Nineteen construction sites are included in the calendar, spread across Pompeii and the surrounding area. They range from the work on the House of the Labyrinth to the restoration of the Domus of Cesio Blando, from the enhancement of the Porta Stabia Necropolis to the safety measures taken on the Insula Meridionalis. There will also be space for the Villas of Stabiae and the Royal Palace of Quisisana in Castellammare di Stabia, and the excavations of Oplontis in Torre Annunziata. A packed program encompassing famous residences and lesser-known areas, archaeological deposits and monumental entrances, such as the ancient entrance to the Villa of the Mysteries.

The initiative, organized by the Park's Technical Office, offers a close-up look at the complexity of excavation, consolidation, and restoration operations. Visitors are guided by the same professionals working in the field: archaeologists, architects, restorers, and engineers, who illustrate the methods, critical issues, and objectives of the interventions. It's not only an opportunity to understand how heritage is protected, but also to gain exclusive access to spaces of extraordinary value, often not yet included in standard visitor itineraries.

Reservations are reserved for MyPompeii Card holders, including new customers, and must be made by email by 2:00 PM the day before the chosen date. Groups of up to twenty people per shift will be able to access the construction sites according to the schedule published on the official website, which is subject to change based on the progress of the work. Every week, starting March 4th, at 11:00 AM, you can reserve your spot for one of the scheduled appointments.
