On the regeneration of Bagnoli the Neapolitan centre-right sides with the administration led by Gaetano Manfredi, calling for the process of urban reclamation and redevelopment to be moved forward without hesitation. At the heart of the discussion is the plan to revitalize the western area of Napoli, supported – the opposition forces underline – by the resources allocated by the Government led by Giorgia Meloni, equal to 1,2 billion euros allocated to the completion of reclamation and the construction of infrastructure and works.
"After 30 years of center-left administrations in which Bagnoli was merely the subject of election campaigns, thanks to the center-right government, there will be urban regeneration that will bring prestige to the neighborhood," said Iris Savastano, Forza Italia city secretary. "Clearly, it's important to listen to the residents, who are the first to have suffered injustice over the years. Transparent communication is needed both on the landfill, the transport of which would have a terrible environmental impact, and on temporary and permanent structures."
The League's city secretary, Enzo Rivellini, proposed establishing a commission of inquiry within the City Council "to determine who was responsible for the delays and waste of resources over the years." Rivellini also proposed naming a street in Bagnoli after Sabatino Santangelo, former deputy mayor under the Iervolino administration.
Marco Nonno, city secretary of the Brothers of Italy party, also weighed in on the neighborhood committees' protests, calling for the debate to be brought back to institutional forums. "The committees must learn that citizens vote and elect their representatives, and we ask Mayor Manfredi to continue the excellent institutional work with the central government and not fall hostage to the streets and the center-left wing that has paralyzed Bagnoli for the last 30 years."
The debate remains heated, but the political message is clear: for the center-right, the Bagnoli dispute must continue along the institutional path, with the stated goal of ending a decades-long stalemate.
