He refused to stop at a Carabinieri checkpoint, fleeing through the streets of the province of Salerno, but his attempt to escape the car lasted only a couple of kilometers. The person involved in the incident, which occurred yesterday evening, is a 24-year-old man from Castellammare di Stabia, already known to law enforcement.
It all started in Sant'Antonio Abate, on Via Roma, where a Carabinieri patrol was conducting a roadblock. The officers noticed a Jeep speeding and raised their signal to stop. The driver, instead of stopping, suddenly accelerated, attempting to drive away.
The blitz and its precedents
A short but intense chase ensued, ending after about two kilometers in Angri, in Via dei Goti, where the Carabinieri managed to block the vehicle and arrest the driver.
Once apprehended, the 24-year-old was subjected to a personal and vehicle search. Inside the vehicle, officers found a balaclava and an illegally held 22-centimeter knife.
Positive alcohol test and arrest
During the ritual operations, the young man was also subjected to an alcohol test, which gave a positive result, confirming his psychophysical state of alteration while driving.
At the conclusion of the proceedings, the 24-year-old was arrested on charges of resisting a public officer. By order of the judicial authorities, the arrested man was held in a holding cell pending his summary trial.

The news highlights road safety and enforcement issues, yet clarity is needed and due process rights must be respected. If there was a knife in the car and the alcohol test was positive, the situation is serious, but the dynamics must be reconstructed carefully and without haste.
I understand the doubts, but even though there may be many explanations, procedures must be respected; the arrest appears to be legitimate, but there will be a hearing, and the evidence will need to be evaluated. It appears the young man was under the influence and driving dangerously, which is why the Carabinieri intervened, but everything remains to be verified.
I'm not sure what to think about this story, it seems strange and confusing to me: the 24-year-old boy didn't stop at the checkpoint and then tried to flee, the Gazelle followed him only two kilometers; the soldiers managed to stop the vehicle, they found a balaclava and a knife, and the breathalyzer test was positive, the situation will have to be clarified by the authorities.
