Frignano – The fight against environmental crimes in the so-called Land of Fires continues unabated. This morning, the Carabinieri of the local station conducted an extraordinary patrol of the area, resulting in the arrest of four people and the precautionary seizure of an area of approximately 1.000 square meters. Non-hazardous special waste was accumulated without authorization.

The investigation focused on a plot of land on Via D'Amore, owned by a 70-year-old businessman living in the municipality. During their inspections, officers discovered significant quantities of non-hazardous special waste, primarily construction materials, rubble, and manufacturing waste, dumped in complete disregard of the required environmental permits.

This was not simply a case of sporadic abandonment: the irregular accumulation constituted a real illegal management of the materials, in violation of waste management regulations.

The owner and three entrepreneurs in the supply chain have been reported

In addition to the landowner, who was charged with unauthorized possession and storage, the Carabinieri also reported three businessmen, directors, and partners of a company responsible for waste disposal.

The four are held responsible, to varying degrees, for having illegally managed the waste in question, circumventing the procedures required by current legislation. The affected area—approximately 1.000 square meters—has been placed under precautionary seizure to prevent further disposal and to allow for the necessary inspection and cleanup operations.

Investigation underway: Public Prosecutor's Office and administrative authorities informed. The incident was immediately reported to the competent judicial authority (the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere) and to the provincial and regional administrative authorities, who will evaluate further decisions on the case, including any additional penalties and environmental restoration obligations.

The Frignano operation is part of a broader program of enhanced environmental controls in the provinces of Naples and Caserta, where crimes related to illegal waste management remain a major regional emergency. The Carabinieri reaffirm their ongoing commitment to curbing the phenomenon and protecting public health and the environment.
