An organization capable of renewing itself generationally and keeping up to date with technology. This is the picture emerging from the operation coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, led by Nicola Gratteri, which culminated overnight with 71 arrest warrants executed by police and Carabinieri.
The charges, to varying degrees, include mafia association, drug trafficking, extortion, money laundering, and the use of cryptocurrencies to reinvest illicit proceeds. Among those arrested is the perpetrator of the murder of Emanuele Durante, killed on March 15, 2025.

The investigation involved historic Camorra families, in particular members linked to the Casalesi Clan – Secondigliano group (Secondigliano area) and the Mazzarella Clan.
The investigations reveal a structural element: the clans' ability to regenerate. "Children and grandchildren replace the bosses while they are under the 41-bis regime or in high-security circles," Gratteri explained. This mechanism of family continuity ensures operational stability and organizational resilience, even in the face of high-profile arrests.
h3Cryptocurrencies and the Dark Web: The Contemporary Mafia
The prosecutor described the investigation as "a Camorra in step with the times," emphasizing its advanced use of technology. The organization, according to investigators, is distinguished by its advanced use of cryptocurrencies and the dark web, tools used both for money laundering and for managing illicit trafficking.
"It's a contemporary mafia," Gratteri summarized, highlighting how technological innovation hasn't replaced traditional criminal activities, but has complemented them, strengthening their capacity for economic penetration and financial camouflage.
