The surveillance camera footage clearly depicts the dynamics: the customer enters, observes the counter, feigns a normal purchase, and waits for the right moment. When the counter is left unattended for a few seconds, action is triggered: a quick, precise gesture, and the money disappears.
The owner's complaint: "Recognize it."
The owner of the business himself made the video public, determined not to let the episode go unpunished.
"I wanted to release these images because this man's face must be recognized. Anyone with information should report it. We cannot allow those who steal from honest workers to go unchallenged," he said, asking for the public's cooperation.
The case reaches the deputy Borrelli
The video was sent to Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who harshly commented on the incident.
"We're beyond the pale of decency. This isn't just a financial loss, it's a genuine humiliation for those who work. We're dealing with individuals who act without any fear, look their victims in the eye, and strike whenever possible," he said.
Investigations ongoing
The video footage has been handed over to law enforcement, who are working to identify the perpetrator. The incident refocuses attention on commercial security and the need to more effectively combat hit-and-run thefts, which are increasingly common even in small businesses.
