Maddaloni - A life of abuse, violence, and fear that spanned nearly four decades. Last night, the final reckoning sounded for a 62-year-old man from Maddaloni.
The Carabinieri of the local station executed a house arrest order against him, issued by the Surveillance Office of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, which definitively sentenced him to 3 years and 2 months in prison for the crime of domestic abuse.
An ordeal that began in 1986
This is not an isolated incident, but rather a long trail of abuse that spanned 38 years. According to investigators' reconstruction, the man's violent and stalking behavior began way back in 1986 and ended only in 2024. A very long period during which the victim, or victims, lived a daily nightmare within their own four walls.
The turning point and the execution of the sentence
The final ruling finally closed the judicial process. The Carabinieri officers, after locating the 62-year-old at his home, accompanied him to the barracks for the formal procedures. Once the formalities were completed, the man was placed under house arrest: he will serve his sentence at his home, as stipulated in the ruling.
Protecting victims, a constant commitment
Last night's operation, despite its routine nature for the Carabinieri, takes on profound significance. It represents the culmination of a family drama spanning nearly forty years and reaffirms the importance of the work of law enforcement and the judiciary in bringing to justice those responsible for serious crimes such as domestic abuse.
The competent judicial authority was informed of the execution of the measure, at the conclusion of an activity aimed at ensuring justice and protecting those who are most vulnerable.

The story is long and complex, but I don't understand how someone could do these things at home. It might seem like it's over, but maybe not. The victims need immediate help and psychosocial support. Justice is doing what it can, but it will take a long time and stricter controls.
