A routine check turned into a far from marginal discovery. It happened this morning at Mondragone, where the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department intervened in Via Domitiana inside a well-known rotisserie, as part of an operation aimed at verifying the regularity of the electricity utilities.

The inspection, conducted with the support of technicians from E-Distribution, revealed a direct and illegal connection to the public grid. Electricity was being drawn without going through the meter, allowing the business to operate while completely evading consumption accounting.

An illegal system that, according to what was discovered on site, provided direct current to ovens and equipment, resulting in obvious financial loss for the grid operator and the community. Following the investigation, the owner of the rotisserie, a 62-year-old local man already known to law enforcement, was charged at large with electricity theft.

The Mondragone Carabinieri station has forwarded the report to the competent judicial authorities and is proceeding with the required procedures. This incident is part of a broader effort to combat illegal connections, a phenomenon that continues to emerge during local checks.
