A new look for the Villa district in San Giovanni a Teduccio. Work began yesterday to maintain the green spaces in Piazza Capri, Piazza Procida, and Piazza Ischia, part of an initiative that combines urban regeneration and social participation. The project stems from an agreement between the Est(ra)Moenia association and 100x100Naples and represents the first green space maintenance project in East Naples for the organization led by Ettore Morra.
The agreement provides for the non-profit assignment of approximately 5.000 square meters of public space, as part of the agreement signed with the City's Public Green Services and the Sixth Municipality. The work, scheduled for biweekly over the next three years, will include lawn maintenance, tree pruning, curb maintenance, and targeted seasonal interventions.
"For us, this project represents a fundamental piece of a broader plan," says Ambrogio Prezioso, president of Est(ra)Moenia. "Urban regeneration begins with the daily care of spaces and the creation of stable presences. The Villa district is strategic for San Giovanni a Teduccio, close to the university campus and the metro station, and we want to connect this work with other projects in the area, such as the campaign to reopen the SuperNest Supercinema Theater, closed for 44 years."
"Bringing 100x100Naples to East Naples means restoring dignity to these places and building relationships with the communities that live there," explains Ettore Morra. "This project goes beyond green maintenance: it activates a comprehensive regeneration process, where squares and public spaces become meeting points and cultural hubs. A project dedicated to children will also be launched soon."
The areas, currently marked by decay and abandonment, are finding new life thanks to an ongoing commitment that combines greenery, cultural planning, and public-private partnerships, restoring the neighborhood to more livable squares and community spaces.
