A nightmarish evening in Secondigliano, where a commando of at least six armed men pulled off a South American-style robbery. With pistols and machine guns drawn, the bandits—all riding scooters—stopped a car near the crossroads, forcing the driver to hand over a valuable watch and some jewelry. Estimated value: over €30.
The scene unfolded in the middle of heavy traffic, before the eyes of dozens of fearful bystanders. To cover their escape, the robbers didn't hesitate to fire shots into the air.
Same hand, same violence
The attack closely resembles the raid carried out just two weeks ago on the owner of the Mirko Sport shop, also on Corso Secondigliano. In that case, too, the robbers were on scooters, armed, and determined to do anything.
In recent days, a driver who was robbed in the same manner on Via Regina Margherita has also been targeted, as has the attempted robbery at the La Nuova Italia pizzeria owned by the Barretta Brothers, also in the central area of the neighborhood.
Neighborhood under siege
Secondigliano and surrounding neighborhoods have been experiencing an escalation of violence for weeks. In addition to robberies, there have been disturbing incidents: an armed mob fired shots at the Cosenza Boxing gym in the Bussola neighborhood of San Pietro a Patierno, and even a 14-year-old boy stabbed in the Berlingieri neighborhood.
Citizens are alarmed, law enforcement is struggling
Civic associations and local committees continue to appeal to the authorities for stronger territorial control. Despite serious staff and equipment shortages, the Secondigliano police station continues its investigative work relentlessly.
Meanwhile, investigators are aiming to identify the members of the commando using footage from surveillance cameras installed in the area. The next few days could be crucial in identifying the perpetrators of the robbery.

I read the article, but the situation seems worrying, especially for the neighborhood. I think law enforcement should do more checks, but I don't know if they have the resources. Citizens should coordinate with local organizations to report videos and evidence, without creating excessive panic.
