A breakthrough has been reached in the investigation into the death of Franco Vitolo, the 60-year-old businessman found dead in his home in Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino, in the province of Salerno.

Carabinieri officers serving in the Nocera Inferiore territorial unit have arrested the victim's wife, a 54-year-old woman who is now charged with murder.

The order was issued by the Nocera Inferiore Public Prosecutor's Office following initial investigations, which revealed an alleged assault that occurred within the home.

The wound in the side and the first suspicions

According to what emerged, the man was apparently struck with a bladed weapon. A wound was found on his ribs, which, from an initial external examination, did not appear particularly deep but was still consistent with a violent act.

Investigators are trying to clarify the precise dynamics of the events and the context in which the act took place.

The alarm raised by the wife and the intervention of 118

It was the woman herself who called for emergency services on Saturday evening, reporting her husband's sudden illness. Upon arriving at the home on Viale degli Aranci, however, paramedics noticed traces of blood and a stab wound on the sixty-year-old's body, immediately alerting the Carabinieri.

From that moment on, the investigation began, interviewing family members and those close to the couple to reconstruct the entrepreneur's last hours.

Autopsy postponed and villa seized

The Prosecutor's Office has ordered further investigations. The autopsy, initially scheduled for today, has been postponed to allow for a further inspection of the villa, which is now under seizure.

Following the formal procedures, the 54-year-old was transferred to Salerno prison, where she remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

Meanwhile, dismay reigns in the neighborhood: neighbors speak of a reserved family and struggle to believe what happened within those domestic walls.
