A Sunday that was supposed to be a day of rest turned into a nightmare of domestic violence arcade, where Carabinieri from the local station responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an apartment. When the officers arrived, a 42-year-old woman and her two children, a 21-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, were sitting on the sidewalk in front of the house. Sitting on the floor, still in shock, they said they had just been attacked by their 46-year-old husband and father.

According to the reconstruction, the man, after drinking, allegedly demanded sexual intercourse. His wife, who was resting, refused. At that point, the situation escalated. "He started screaming, then grabbed me and threw me to the ground," the woman reportedly told the Carabinieri. Her sixteen-year-old son intervened to defend his mother, but was punched repeatedly. The assault continued for several minutes, extending outside the home, while the woman desperately attempted to stop her husband. "I tried to calm him down, but he hit me again," the victim reportedly said, explaining that she was punched twice in the side before collapsing. The boy, attempting to protect his mother, was also violently headbutted in the face.

The mother and son refused hospitalization, but their fear of returning home was evident. This would not have been the first episode of violence: the woman and her son had already been assaulted in the past, and on one occasion, the 42-year-old had had to seek medical treatment, reporting her husband.

The Carabinieri then reached the apartment to locate the man. The 46-year-old answered the door, but inside the home, signs of the recent outburst were still visible: a broken door, damaged furniture, and shattered glass on the floor. The man was arrested and taken to prison. The woman and children, after the formalities, were able to return home, while yet another episode of domestic violence reignites alarm over a phenomenon that continues to recur, especially on holidays.
