Giugliano – A Carabinieri sergeant, off duty and traveling on the SS7 quater, noticed a thick column of black smoke rising from the Roma camp on Via Carrafiello. The cloud was so massive it was visible for kilometers. The officer, serving with the Campania Regiment, immediately alerted 112.

The soldiers, who quickly arrived at the settlement, surprised a 23-year-old resident of the Roma camp while he still had in his hand the lighter used to start the fire.
The young man was stopped and arrested in the act. What caught fire were car wrecks, packaging containing paint and oil residue, and several piles of garbage. The fire was then extinguished by firefighters. The 23-year-old was taken to the police station and, after the usual formalities, was released to the judicial authorities pending the validation of his conviction.
