A night of screaming and violence shook downtown Caserta, transforming a city apartment into the scene of a family attack that only the timely intervention of law enforcement prevented from escalating into tragedy. Carabinieri officers from the Operations and Radiomobile Unit responded urgently after a desperate call to 112 reporting a furious argument in the home. Upon arriving, officers encountered a degrading scene: a 43-year-old woman, in a severely altered state, was brutally abusing her 66-year-old mother, who had been living with her for a while, escalating from verbal threats to physical assault.

The swift investigation conducted by the Carabinieri revealed that this nocturnal incident was far from an isolated one. The victim, overwhelmed by years of harassment and repeated aggressive behavior, had previously filed a complaint for similar incidents, already falling under the protection of domestic violence victims. Despite previous investigations and attempts to contain her daughter's fury, the situation once again escalated into the darkness of the Caserta night, confirming a picture of profound unease and social danger.

The forty-three-year-old showed no signs of repentance, even when confronted by the uniform, continuing to display such aggression that medical personnel had to intervene to calm her down and administer appropriate treatment. Following the formal procedures, the woman was released from custody and charged with domestic violence.

The mother, deeply shocked and frightened by her daughter's latest assault, was immediately placed under protective measures. Although she temporarily refused transfer to a specialized shelter, she decided to leave the home she shared with her daughter to seek refuge with a trusted person. The Carabinieri Radiomobile Unit is now continuing their investigations to determine every detail of a case that once again highlights the vulnerability of silent victims and the vital importance of reporting any abuse before it's too late.

Reading the news, it makes you think that much could have been avoided. If social services had been involved sooner, perhaps her daughter would have received therapy or support. But things aren't simple, and more resources and competent personnel are needed quickly.

So, the situation is complicated, and it seems no one has fully understood the dynamics. The woman had already filed a complaint, but nothing has changed. The institutions have done something, but it's not enough. We hope the mother receives protection and that targeted interventions are implemented.

It's a sad fact. It was a terrible night, and history seems to be repeating itself. The victim suffered too much, and no one stopped her aggressive daughter sooner. Help has arrived, but more support is needed for families in need, more monitoring, and real help.
