Naples – A late-night prank by a group of young people in Naples could have turned tragic. A 16-year-old boy, driving a rental car with three other minors aboard, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a streetlight. The accident occurred last night, around 2:45 a.m., on Via Coroglio, a well-known street for Neapolitan nightlife.
The high-speed crash
According to initial reports from officers who responded to the scene, the vehicle's severe skid was caused by high speed. The impact was so violent that it completely destroyed the iron structure of the streetlight. Emergency services and law enforcement had to intervene immediately to secure the area and assess the condition of the young occupants.
The injured in the hospital
Fortunately, the medical toll turned out to be less serious than the crash's dynamics suggested. Two of the four passengers sustained minor bruises and injuries. The 16-year-old driver was taken to the emergency room at Cardarelli Hospital, where doctors discharged him with a five-day prognosis. Another 17-year-old passenger was transferred to San Paolo Hospital, receiving a ten-day prognosis.
Penalties for the tenant
After the usual medical procedures and identification procedures, the officers contacted the family members and handed over all the minors involved to their respective parents. The investigation then focused on the vehicle's provenance. The vehicle was returned to the person who had duly signed the rental agreement. The latter was issued a series of heavy fines under the Highway Code for recklessly entrusting the vehicle to minors without a license and for other violations that emerged during the formal investigations.

This is a serious matter, but fortunately, it didn't end worse. Parents shouldn't allow minors to rent cars without a license; the rental company made a huge mistake, and they should pay the fines. The nightlife scene is dangerous, and there are zero checks.
