A tragic road accident occurred at dawn just outside Modena. Three people were killed and one seriously injured after a collision between a car and a milk truck occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m. on Via Emilia Ovest.
For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided violently and ended up off the roadway, falling into the embankment that runs alongside the road.
Emergency responders arrived immediately, arriving on the scene with ambulances and firefighters. The four occupants of the car were trapped in the wreckage, and paramedics worked for a long time to extract them from the vehicle. Despite the rapid response, there was nothing that could be done for three of them: the medical staff could only pronounce them dead.
The fourth passenger was recovered alive but in very serious condition and was urgently transferred to hospital.
Due to the accident, Via Emilia Ovest was closed to traffic in both directions to allow for rescue operations and the surveys necessary to reconstruct the dynamics of the crash.
