Casavatore – They chose the wrong path and the wrong time. Carabinieri from the Casoria company's mobile radio unit arrested Raffaele Velotti, a 29-year-old local, and Luigi Carriola, a 28-year-old, both already known to law enforcement, on charges of attempted aggravated robbery.
It happened on Via Palizzi, where a patrol car noticed two men loitering suspiciously near a parked Fiat Panda. Approaching discreetly, the officers caught the pair fumbling with burglary tools, ready to force open the door. Their attempts to justify themselves were futile: the evidence was clear.
A subsequent search revealed an even more disturbing picture. The two were found in possession of a complete burglary kit, as well as a backpack and a laptop, which had been stolen shortly before from a Fiat 500 parked nearby.
Velotti and Carriola were arrested and are currently under house arrest pending a validation hearing and indictment.
