Caserta – Searches were conducted at the homes of Biagio Esposito, a former Caserta city councilor and a former city councilor, and his daughter Dora Esposito, also a former city councilor, as part of an investigation coordinated by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office.
The investigations were carried out by the Caserta Carabinieri on the basis of a decree issued by the judiciary in a corruption case that, according to reports, also involves Forza Italia regional councilor Giovanni Zannini.
The latter has already been suspended by the Regional Council and is currently subject to a ban on residence in Campania in relation to other proceedings.
The investigation is part of a broader investigation by the San Marino Public Prosecutor's Office, led by Pierpaolo Bruni, which in recent months has also involved the administrative affairs of the Municipality of Caserta, dissolved in April 2025.
According to the reconstruction, as early as January, deputy prosecutors Anna Ida Capone and Giacomo Urbano had served summonses to Zannini and Biagio Esposito, both of whom were under investigation for corruption. Esposito, at that stage, did not appear before the magistrates, submitting instead a defense brief.
The new development that emerged today concerns the extension of the investigation to include Dora Esposito, who is also facing the same corruption charge. Biagio Esposito is also accused of extortion.
It should be remembered that the people involved in the investigation are to be considered not guilty until a final sentence is reached.
