Casoria – From jail cells bursting open for a stolen scratch card to police sirens playing via Bluetooth to clear traffic, daily news seems to have outgrown fantasy, transforming trivial disagreements into criminally compliant incidents.

The final chapter in this anthology of the absurd comes from Casoria, which, after the violent fight over wine in October 2024 (which resulted in two arrests for attempted murder), is once again in the news for an incredible episode.

The pretext: a device broken out of spite

It all begins on a normal sunny afternoon, when a mother lends a charger to one of her children. The request to return the device, however, triggers a disproportionate chain reaction: the suspicion that the cable might have been given to another sibling, with whom relations are strained, transforms a cheap item into a casus belli.

The son, in a fit of rage, destroys the charger and chases his mother into the house. There, the verbal abuse turns physical: the woman is grabbed while furniture and small appliances—including a microwave and a coffee maker—are smashed to pieces.

Guerrilla warfare on Via Martiri D'Otranto

The alarm was raised when the other two brothers, informed of the incident, reached the house to confront the relative. What could have been a violent argument quickly escalated into a scene of urban guerrilla warfare.

When the Carabinieri of the Casoria Mobile Radio Section arrived, the scene on Via Martiri D'Otranto was surreal: one of the fighters had taken refuge on a shed and was pelting the other two with tiles, while below, one of the brothers was trying to dodge the blows by holding a knife.

From the hearth to house arrest

The prompt intervention of the military prevented the situation from escalating further, putting a stop to the debris and disarming the man with the knife. For the three brothers, however, the day inevitably ended in the barracks.

After the usual formalities, they were all arrested and placed under house arrest, pending their trial for an assault that paradoxically arose from a dead cell phone battery.

I understand the context, it seems like a chain of small gestures that have degenerated; the family seems to be split and the names are mixed up with the facts, the intervention of the authorities was rapid but house arrest doesn't explain everything, questions remain about how they got to the point of throwing tiles and knives.

This article seems completely absurd, the situation seems like it came out of a movie but it's real; I understand that a dead battery can unleash things, but turning a broken cable into guerrilla warfare seems exaggerated to me, the police did what they could but it's unclear who was the victim or the culprit, words and facts mixed together without any order.
