Late yesterday morning, April 2, 2026, the Carabinieri of the Mondragone Territorial Unit, in collaboration with technicians from E-Distribuzione SpA, discovered two separate illegal connections in private homes in the city.
The inspections, conducted following a formal report from the electricity company, focused on two different areas: Viale Valentina and Viale Metauro. In both cases, the officers found direct and unauthorized connections to the public grid, created to bypass meters and avoid paying for actual consumption.

This is a widespread but particularly insidious practice: in addition to causing financial damage to the service provider, illegal connections expose the occupants themselves to serious safety risks, including overloads, short circuits, and possible fires.
Following the investigation, a man and a woman living in the area were charged with aggravated electricity theft. Their cases are now being investigated by the Judicial Authorities, while the Castel Volturno Carabinieri Station continues its investigation.
The operation is part of a broader effort to combat widespread lawlessness carried out by the Carabinieri in the Castel Volturno area, with particular attention to those "silent" crimes that impact the collective economy and the safety of essential services.
