Drugs on social media and sent by mail: cartel dismantled in Naples, €2 million business halted

Naples – A veritable "Amazon" of drugs, capable of generating a turnover of over two million euros in less than two years.

This is the drug dealing chain dismantled by the Guardia di Finanza of the Caltanissetta Provincial Command, which reconstructed and interrupted a massive drug trafficking ring with its logistics base and control room in the province of Naples.

The operation led to the seizure of ten kilos of illicit substances and the arrest of two people, caught red-handed inside their storage laboratory.

From Sicily to Campania: the origins of the investigations

The investigation, which uncovered a widespread distribution network across the country, stemmed from a previous drug seizure in Caltanissetta in September 2025.

By tracking that shipment, the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) managed to track down the tide, identifying the heart of the illicit activity in the Naples area. Here, the two suspects had set up a veritable distribution center: a laboratory entirely dedicated to packaging large quantities of narcotics destined for the Italian market.

Social Media and Couriers: Drug Dealing Logistics 2.0

The organization's modus operandi was as simple as it was effective, perfectly adapted to the digital age. The two leaders used social media platforms to advertise their catalog, offering customers cocaine, hashish, and marijuana. Once the order was received, the drugs were prepared and handed over to unsuspecting postal services or private couriers for final delivery.

During the raid, in addition to the ten kilos of narcotics—whose retail value would have exceeded €100—financial officers seized all the machinery used to package the packages. A blank-firing pistol, lacking the mandatory red cap, was also found and seized, complete with ammunition.

Business numbers and the 500 clients in focus

Subsequent economic and financial investigations, cross-referenced with current account analysis, revealed the true extent of the phenomenon: a system active since 2024 that had already completed over 4.000 shipments, guaranteeing million-dollar profits.

But the operation doesn't stop with the arrest of the top brass. The military has also extracted the names of approximately 500 recipients of the packages from the central databases, spread across the country. This data will now be transmitted to the various local branches of the Guardia di Finanza, which will launch independent investigations to fully identify the buyers.

For the two perpetrators, transferred to prison by order of the Neapolitan Judicial Authority, the legal case has already seen its first, decisive chapter: tried under an abbreviated procedure, they were sentenced to four years in prison and fined €14.000 each.
