Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters continues its extraordinary operations to combat the illegal circulation of weapons in the city's most crime-ridden neighborhoods. On Wednesday afternoon, State Police officers arrested three people in the Sanità district, caught in possession of weapons and ammunition.
Two young men, aged 17 and 19, and a 33-year-old man, the first two already known to law enforcement, were arrested. The three will face charges of various kinds, including possession of a concealed weapon, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, and receiving stolen goods.
The operation was conducted by the Falcons of the Flying Squad, engaged in a targeted territorial patrol. During a search of the residence used by the three suspects, officers discovered two 7,65 caliber semi-automatic pistols with erased serial numbers and 52 rounds of the same caliber, carefully hidden inside the apartment.
The material was seized and the three men were arrested.
Healthcare and the gun scare: the neighborhood under pressure
The incident occurs amid heightened criminal tension in the Sanità neighborhood, where the use of firearms has increased in recent months. The area has become the scene of clashes between youth groups linked to organized crime, particularly youth gangs, seeking to gain control of illegal activities, especially those related to drug dealing.
In this very area, since last year, there have been a series of episodes of extreme violence: murders, injuries, attacks and the so-called "stese", demonstrations involving gunshots which serve to intimidate rivals and mark out territory.
The response of the police
The arrests of the three are part of a broader enforcement effort implemented by the Police Headquarters to curb the circulation of weapons in high-risk neighborhoods. Investigators' goal is to prevent guns and ammunition from falling into the hands of criminal gangs fueling the new wave of violence in the heart of the city.

It seems like important news to me but I don't know if it's enough. The police arrested three people but there are still too many weapons and young people who walk the streets without fear. We hoped the controls would last and there would be more prevention and social work but I know it's complicated and takes time.
