The meeting between the Prefecture of Naples and USB Trasporti was held via videoconference regarding the issue of the six lines at the Calata Capodichino depot, which is at the center of a labor unrest.
The meeting, held remotely as part of the cooling-off procedure required by law, marks a new stage in the tension between the Unione Sindacale di Base and Air, which, according to the union, is guilty of wanting to outsource the service despite a list of over 400 drivers eligible for hiring.
The crux of the ranking
USB's position is clear: no outsourcing, and immediate review of the lists. "We demand the revocation of the measure," says Marco Sansone, USB regional secretary. "It sets a very dangerous precedent, paving the way for the privatization of a strategic sector like local public transport."
Sansone also points to the internal contradiction in the matter: "Air itself declared a staffing shortage. Yet there are hundreds of drivers, the product of a public competition, just waiting to be hired. Hiring them would also be a concrete solution to unemployment in Campania."
The union now expects a clear signal from the company and hopes the Prefecture will play an active mediation role, pushing for "real reconciliation" rather than a cosmetic solution.

It seems like a complicated issue to me. The prefecture and the Air should discuss it, but it seems like they can't agree. The ranking of over 400 people is mentioned, but then they talk about outsourcing, and no one explains how the winners will be hired. A real, shared discussion is needed.
