Naples – For the first time in Southern Italy, a successful transoral robotic oropharyngectomy with pharyngeal reconstruction was performed at Monaldi Hospital in Naples. The operation, performed with the Da Vinci platform, treated oropharyngeal carcinoma with extensive lymph node metastases.

The Colli Hospital announces a "step forward in robotic surgery for head and neck tumors." This procedure brings the number of surgeries performed with the Da Vinci robot to 15, consolidating the center's experience.

The operation integrated traditional neck surgery and a transoral robotic approach, ensuring radical tumor resection and reconstruction to preserve swallowing and upper digestive function.

“This success is a testament to the quality of our professionalism, technological innovation, and multidisciplinary work,” said General Manager Anna Iervolino.
