Naples – A devastating blow to international drug trafficking routes was delivered by the Carabinieri of the Napoli Stella Company's Operational Unit. The operation, launched at first light near the port, resulted in the seizure of a massive shipment that threatened to flood the city and province's drug dealing hubs.

The interception at the port gate

During a routine patrol to ensure brand safety in the port area—a vital hub for the city's legal economy—military personnel noticed a suspicious semi-trailer parked. Inside the vehicle were two men: a 54-year-old Spaniard with no criminal record and a 38-year-old Moroccan, Abdelali Amraoui, already known to the court records. The nervous behavior of the two men prompted officers to conduct a more thorough check, transforming a routine stop into one of the most significant drug busts in recent months.

The double bottom of drugs

The initial search of the cargo area seemed fruitless, until the Carabinieri's expert eye spotted an anomaly in the interior trim. Lifting the floor panels revealed a sophisticated false bottom concealing 566 kilograms of hashish. Along with the drugs, they found €78 in cash, likely the proceeds of illicit transactions or transport logistics funds.

From the road to the logistics base in Frignano

The investigation didn't stop at the port. The search was extended to the 38-year-old Moroccan's home in Frignano, revealing that he operated a full-fledged logistics base. Inside the house, another 27 kilos of hashish and approximately 3 kilos of pure cocaine were found. At the end of the operation, the Spaniard was transferred to prison for possession with intent to sell, while his accomplice also faces charges of assault and assault on a public official.

The clan "cartel" behind the shipment

A load of this size (almost 600 kg on the truck alone, plus the cocaine) is never intended for a single buyer, nor can it be handled by "lone wolves".

Destination and distribution of shares

According to Neapolitan criminal dynamics, shipments of this size arrive via the so-called "puntata." This is a collective investment in which several clans pool their capital to reduce costs at source (by purchasing directly from Spanish or Moroccan cartels) and share the business risks.

The recipients: The shipment was likely intended to supply the drug dealing areas in the historic center (Stella/Sanità Area) and the Caserta hinterland (Frignano/Agro Aversano area), as suggested by the location of the second discovery.

The division of sharesA possible alliance exists between the Secondigliano alliance (due to its financial capacity to import) and the dominant groups in the health system. In these cases, the drugs are "distributed" at the port: 50% often remains with the groups managing port logistics, while the remainder is divided into 50-100 kg shares for the various territorial subgroups.

Each seizure of this size breaks the "reliability pact" between foreign suppliers and local clans, making Naples a less "safe" market for large international brokers and restoring credibility to the institutions operating in the area.
