The bells of Europe's most famous cathedral are ringing again in Campania. Starting tomorrow, Friday, April 17, and continuing through the weekend, the PalaSele in Eboli will transform into a late fifteenth-century Paris to host Notre Dame de Paris. This modern folk opera, now approaching the prestigious milestone of its twenty-second year of performances in Italy, arrives in the Salerno area for the fourth time in its history, bringing with it a wealth of emotion that has already captivated over eighteen million spectators worldwide.
The show, born from the musical genius of Riccardo Cocciante and the masterfully adapted lyrics of Pasquale Panella, showcases a painful and vibrant humanity. An army of beggars, monks, prostitutes, and illegal immigrants will roam the stage, ready to tell the dramatic love story between the gypsy Esmeralda and the bell-ringer Quasimodo. "Notre Dame de Paris has captivated audiences, becoming a popular phenomenon and one of the most enduring works of Italian culture," explain the organizers, emphasizing how the themes of marginalization and fear of diversity are more relevant today than ever.
The 2026 tour represents a key milestone in the Road to 25th Anniversary journey, which will culminate in 2027 with the celebrations marking a quarter century since the opera's Italian debut. The production, curated by Clemente Zard for Vivo Concerti, confirms an impressive staging that blends classical dance with breakdance and a soundtrack that has spawned independent hits such as "Bella" and "Il tempo delle cattedrali." With the five performances scheduled for this weekend, the Eboli opera house will reach the historic number of twenty-one performances of the opera since 2003.
The performance schedule begins tomorrow evening at 21:00 PM, followed by two performances on Saturday and Sunday. For latecomers, the PalaSele box office will remain open for the entire event, offering the last remaining tickets to see what is considered a true cult classic of contemporary musical theater. After the performance of the "clandestini" from Paris, the season of major live performances by Anni 60 Produzioni will continue with concerts by Blanco and Elisa in May.

This seems like interesting news, but I don't know if everything is exactly as they say. The bells ring, but people don't understand the content, and the tickets aren't checked properly. The set looks great, but the actors don't move well; there are rhythmic errors here and there, and the translation is often incorrect. The audience doesn't react as they should.
