Pagani pizza chef stabbed to death in Ibiza: hunt for killer underway

A young pizza chef from Pagani was stabbed to death in Ibiza, in broad daylight, in one of the most popular areas of the Spanish island. The victim, Francesco Sessa, 35, died yesterday afternoon after receiving a fatal stab to the chest.

The murder, according to local Spanish press reports, occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. in Platja d'en Bossa, a key spot for Ibiza's nightlife, famous for its internationally renowned clubs and discos such as Hi Ibiza and Ushuaia. At this time of year, however, the area is much less crowded than in the summer and is frequented mostly by residents and a few tourists.

The Guardia Civil investigations

The context and motive for the attack that claimed the life of the 35-year-old Paganese man remain unclear. Initially, it was assumed the man might have been the victim of a robbery, but initial investigations have led to a different outcome.

The Guardia Civil, which has opened an investigation into the murder, is reportedly evaluating the possibility of a settling of scores. According to initial reports in local newspapers "Diario de Ibiza" and "Periodico de Ibiza y Formentera," shortly before the crime, Sessa was seen arguing heatedly with two other people. Some witnesses reported that the two spoke a foreign language, and others suggest they may have been Neapolitan.

By the time emergency services arrived, the two men were already gone. The killer, or killers, fled immediately after the fatal shot.

The alarm and the useless rescue

The alarm was raised by a woman who, after parking not far from where the argument allegedly occurred, noticed the man's body lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Emergency services were called immediately, but the 35-year-old's condition immediately appeared desperate.

Doctors and paramedics, upon arriving on the scene, found Francesco Sessa already in cardiac arrest. For over an hour, they attempted to resuscitate him and contain the serious wound to his left chest, but all efforts were in vain. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
