From the internet to the front door, through an investigation that reconstructed the route of the stolen goods. In San Giorgio a Cremano, the State Police arrested a 48-year-old Neapolitan man on serious suspicion of receiving stolen goods after identifying electronic devices stolen from a school online.

The case began between March 14th and 15th, when unknown individuals committed a theft inside the school, stealing equipment worth approximately €400. Tablets, computers, and other essential teaching tools vanished within hours.

The investigation took a turn when local police officers identified devices compatible with the stolen ones on a popular online marketplace. From there, a targeted investigation began, leading to the identification of the alleged seller.

Tracked down on Saturday morning, the man was found in possession of part of the stolen goods. However, a subsequent home search, conducted with the support of the Afragola police station, revealed an even broader picture. Inside the home, 20 additional tablets linked to the theft were found, as well as 11 additional electronic devices, including computers and tablets, for which the 48-year-old was unable to provide any explanation.

These elements strengthened the evidence and led to his arrest. After judicial confirmation, the man was placed under house arrest.

This story once again highlights how the online marketplace can become a channel for stolen goods, but also how investigative work can reconstruct the steps and bring the stolen goods back to light.

It seems like a very serious matter to me, yet the investigation wasn't easy. They found some of the stuff, but much else remains unreported. The school is left without tablets, and the children are missing classes. The online market seems very easy for those who resell, and no one is monitoring it properly. Let's hope everything goes smoothly and justice takes its course.
