Naples – Investigators remain vigilant in the tragic incident that led to the untimely death of 20-year-old Fabio Ascione on April 7 in the Mickey Mouse Town area of Ponticelli.
In the last few hours, the Preliminary Investigations Judge at the Juvenile Court of Naples has lifted his reservations regarding the position of the seventeen-year-old involved in the incident. Despite the failure to validate the arrest warrant, the magistrate has ordered the youth to be held in prison. The decision was made based on the seriousness of the charges: public intimidation with the use of weapons and illegal possession of firearms.
The minor, KV, who will turn 18 in two weeks, represented by lawyers Antonio Rizzo and Giovanni Nappo, gave spontaneous statements during the hearing, appearing visibly distressed by the loss of his friend. The defense argued that the shooting was a fatality, confirming that a shot was fired accidentally during the heated confrontation.
The Prosecutor's Office and the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA)'s reconstruction of the case also focuses on Francesco Pio Autiero, 23, identified by investigators as a member of the De Micco clan of Ponticelli. He faces the most serious charge: voluntary homicide. According to the prosecution's theory, the robbery that struck Ascione at dawn on April 7th occurred amid serious tensions between rival groups.
Attention now turns to tomorrow, when Autiero—represented by attorneys Leopoldo Perone and Simone Grossi—will appear before investigating judge De Angelis for a validation hearing. In addition to the murder charge, the twenty-three-year-old will face charges of weapons possession and aggravated public intimidation.
The entire proceeding seeks to shed full light on a night of violence that shook the local community, in an attempt to distinguish individual responsibilities in what, so far, appears to be a dramatic escalation of an armed conflict in the area.
