Milan – The escape seemed almost perfect. After defrauding a 77-year-old woman in the Marassi neighborhood of Genoa, stealing €2.000 in cash and a significant amount of jewelry, the two accomplices had already set off for Milan. But the police were hot on their trail.

The operation, conducted in perfect coordination between the mobile squads of Genoa and Milan, concluded with two simultaneous arrests: the driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Neapolitan, was stopped on Corso Buenos Aires, while the receiver, a 25-year-old Brazilian citizen, was arrested at the Central Station as he was about to board a train to Naples, still in possession of the entire stolen goods.

The scam followed the classic "fake policeman" script: the victim was contacted on her landline by individuals posing as law enforcement officers, claiming that the money and jewelry in her possession needed to be checked by an officer who would come to her home. The woman, convinced of the legitimacy of the request, laid out everything on the table and handed the loot to the young man who rang her doorbell.

After serving time in Milan's San Vittore prison, the judge ordered both men to report to the judicial police. The victim, still visibly shaken, actively cooperated with investigators, providing key information for the rapid identification of those responsible.

It seems to me a very sad story, the 77 year old lady was deceived and lost €2.000 and many jewels. The two accomplices had already left for Milan but the police were behind them, well done for the speedy action. We hope that the stolen goods are returned to the woman and that justice does its job.
