Torre Annunziata – A new emergency precautionary seizure has been placed on a shipyard on the Vesuvian coast. Officers from the Castellammare di Stabia Port Authority conducted an inspection at "Nautica Store Srl," located on Via Terragneta in Torre Annunziata, ordering the seizure of an area of approximately 1.550 square meters.
The operation is part of the investigation into pollution of the Sarno River, coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office.
The violations found
Upon access, inspectors observed work in progress both in open spaces and inside a covered structure outside the authorized perimeter of the construction site. Specifically, sanding and painting operations were underway without any authorization. Among the irregularities reported:
Discharge of industrial wastewater without a permit
Unauthorized emissions into the atmosphere
Uncontrolled waste dumping in two areas totaling approximately 300 m2
Illegal use of a tent structure for construction activities
Runoff water delivered directly to the ground, without any first rain water collection system
Materials stored in areas without cover and protection against accidental spills
Why the seizure was necessary
The Coast Guard proceeded with the emergency seizure to immediately halt the ongoing crimes and prevent further deterioration of the environmental consequences. The area, systematically used abusively and without any authorization, posed a concrete risk to the coastal ecosystem and the quality of the marine waters along the Oplonti coast.
An investigation that has been going on for months
The Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office emphasizes that this is yet another shipyard seized as part of a widespread and relentless campaign of surveillance along the Sorrento Peninsula coastline. The investigation, conducted jointly by the Castellammare di Stabia Port Authority and other judicial police forces—including the Naples Carabinieri Environmental Protection Group—is ongoing.
The operation is legally based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 17, 2025, by the Public Prosecutor's Offices of Avellino, Nocera Inferiore, and Torre Annunziata, the Attorney General's Offices of the Courts of Appeal of Naples and Salerno, the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPAC), and the competent environmental police authorities. The stated objective is to identify and eliminate the causes of pollution of the Sarno River and its tributaries, with particular attention to companies located throughout the entire catchment area.

Noticed the article, the investigation has been going on for months but it is not clear whether the causes of the pollution will actually be removed, the locals are worried but no one is speaking clearly, concrete measures are needed and not promises or empty words
I agree with the seizure, the co-operation between the Public Prosecutor's Office and Arpac is important, but often the protocols are not applied in the same way on all construction sites, and there are areas where everything goes unpunished, we need stricter controls and sanctions that work and solve the problem.
It seems like a necessary operation, but it's not clear how the checks were carried out; there was work inside and outside the structure without authorization, materials on the ground without a cover, and the water went straight to the ground. I hope the judiciary will act quickly and repair the damage.
It seems like a necessary intervention, but it's also incomprehensible how it still happens: the workers were working both inside and outside an unauthorized structure, and the water immediately went into the sea. The investigation is still ongoing, and I hope they find those responsible and repair the damage; we need more constant controls, transparency, and sanctions.
