Overnight, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid at the Naples Police Headquarters arrested a 42-year-old Neapolitan man and a 39-year-old Palermo woman, both seriously suspected of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The arrests occurred in the Case Nuove neighborhood, during a patrol on Via Antonio Toscano.
The escape attempt and the suspicious gesture
According to the police's reconstruction, upon seeing the patrol, the two attempted to escape to evade detection. During that time, the man allegedly threw away a small bag and threw it into a nearby trash can. This act did not go unnoticed by the officers, who caught up with them and arrested them.

The 42-year-old had with him 85 euros in banknotes of various denominations
The 39-year-old was found with 23 packages of cocaine/crack (about 5 grams) and 43 euros in cash.
A further 140 packages of the same substance were recovered from the waste bin, for a total weight of approximately 26 grams.
Following the investigation, both were arrested. Their status is now being examined by the competent judicial authority.
