The young man arrested for the murder of Vincenzo Iannitti, a twenty-year-old from San Castrese, a hamlet of Sessa Aurunca, who disappeared on March 19, confessed at dawn after a long interrogation that lasted approximately six hours.

Before the public prosecutor of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office, the nineteen-year-old Romanian Viktor Uratoriu – assisted by the lawyer Luigi Imperato – admitted his responsibility with a succinct statement: "Yes, I killed him."

The boy is now charged with voluntary manslaughter and concealment of a corpse. According to the Carabinieri investigation, he allegedly stabbed the victim twice and then attempted to hide her body.

The relationship between victim and suspect

Uratoriu, who had lived in Italy for several years with his family, had known Vincenzo Iannitti for some time. According to investigative sources, the two were friends and lived a short distance from each other in a small town near Caserta.

It was precisely this connection that initially led investigators to interview the nineteen-year-old among the people informed of the facts following the missing person report filed by the victim's family.

The contradictions in the story

During initial interviews with investigators, the young man said he had met Iannitti in the square and then separated from him without hearing from him again.

However, some inconsistencies in his story prompted the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Sessa Aurunca company to investigate his situation further.

Footage from local surveillance cameras revealed that the two had left the town square together and headed toward the 19-year-old's home in Vico Pisciaturo. Iannitti had disappeared from view since then.

The discovery of the body in the atrium

The investigation then led to the discovery of the twenty-year-old's body in a courtyard adjacent to the suspect's home, inside a property owned by a neighbor who had not lived there for some time.

The body, in an advanced state of decomposition, was hidden inside a bag and covered with debris.

During the investigation, the military also seized a kitchen knife with a blade approximately eight centimeters long, believed to be compatible with the murder weapon.

The reconstruction provided by the 19-year-old

During the interrogation, Uratoriu reportedly stated that the murder took place inside his home after an argument.

According to the young man's reconstruction, he grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Iannitti twice in the throat. After the attack, the victim's body was apparently pushed from the balcony into the courtyard below and then hidden in a cellophane bag and other materials found at the scene.

The suspect claimed to have acted alone. No other people are currently involved.

Investigations still ongoing

Investigators are continuing to verify the version provided by the nineteen-year-old, which is still considered contradictory in some respects. Several aspects of the case remain unclear, starting with the motive.

The autopsy will also be crucial, as it will be conducted in the coming days to precisely determine the cause of the twenty-year-old's death and clarify whether he died from stab wounds or from a fall into the atrium.

Meanwhile, Viktor Uratoriu is in the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, awaiting a hearing before a judge to validate his arrest.

I don't know what to say. This news is very sad and leaves me cold and confused. The authorities have spoken, but too many questions remain; the story has changed and will change often, and there are inconsistencies. We hope the truth comes out and justice is served, but it will take time, a thorough investigation, and more thorough checks.
