There's a different way to tell history. Not in books, not behind a desk, but in the streets, among people, within emotions. And that's exactly how I experienced the day of "Sarno. Challenge to the Aragonese Court."

My journey began along the Path of the Battle of Sarno, guided by the girls of theITIS “Enrico Fermi” – Tourism major. Not just students, but true storytellers: step by step, they accompanied me along the path with clear, engaging explanations, almost as if they were experiencing that past firsthand.

The first stop took me into the heart of the battle, thanks to the Company of Arms “The Rose and the Sword”. Before my eyes, medieval attack and defense techniques came to life: precise, studied movements that revealed how harsh and strategic warfare was in the past.

A little further on, the second stage with the Knights of the Papal Bull AD 1934 It made me discover up close one of the most fascinating and feared instruments of the past: the blunderbussNot just displayed, but explained in detail, showing how it was used in battle. A true leap back in time.

The third stop was perhaps the most evocative: The Falconers of IrnoA close encounter with a Harris's Buzzard and an Owl, the protagonists of a hunting demonstration that left me speechless. Elegance, precision, instinct: a perfect balance between man and nature.

The journey continued with the fourth stage, where the group Emian They brought the sounds of the Middle Ages back to life. After accompanying the Battle of Sarno last year, they once again enchanted with ancient instruments and a brief but powerful musical demonstration that transported me completely to another era.

Finally, the last stop in the suggestive Cloister of San Francesco, where i Doria Archers They demonstrated the techniques and bows used in the Middle Ages. A unique atmosphere, almost suspended in time, was the perfect conclusion to this immersive journey.

Making the entire event even more significant was the presence of key figures from the organization: the artistic director Ennio Molisse, who was able to give shape and identity to this immersive experience, and Giantommaso Esposito, president ofSarnus Association, promoter of a project that unites culture, territory and new generations, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sarno e Sarno Integrated Services and Mayor of the city Francesco squillante

The day ended in theCouncil Chamber of the Municipality of Sarno, with the official press conference. An important moment, not only to announce the second stage of the event—the long-awaited Battle of Sarno which will be held on July 11th and 12th but also to celebrate the true protagonists of this experience: the students. The delivery of certificates of participation to the students of the ITIS “Enrico Fermi”, to the teachers and to the vice principal was a concrete demonstration of how this project manages to unite school, territory and identity.

I returned home with one certainty: when young people tell their story, history is no longer the past. It becomes the present. It comes alive.

Editorials (1)

It seems like a different story to me, but I'm not sure if everything is clear, or if the girls from the ITIS led the way well, explaining step by step, not just history but also emotions; the Archers' demonstration seemed interesting but at times confusing, with certain passages lacking context and coherence.
