NAPLES – A column of smoke was visible from several streets in the neighborhood. A fire hit a bar on Via Arangio Ruiz, in the heart of Chiaia, a few hundred meters from Corso Vittorio Emanuele, causing panic among residents last night. It was just after 7:30 PM when the flames erupted inside the establishment, which fortunately was closed to the public at the time.
Thick smoke quickly filled the street, creating considerable concern among residents on the upper floors and in the surrounding area. Two firefighter teams responded to the scene. Firefighters had to break the shutter to access the building and put out the fire, quickly extinguishing the blaze. Their timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to the entire building, thus preventing the evacuation of residents.
No injuries or poisonings were reported. State Police officers also arrived on the scene to conduct investigations. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined: initial speculation suggests a short circuit, but technical investigations will determine the exact origin of the blaze.
