As part of controls on the energy supply chain, officers from the Naples Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza seized over 4.500 liters of adulterated diesel fuel at a fuel station in the municipality of Quarto. Four fuel dispensers connected to the tank were also seized, and the plant manager has been charged.

The operation was carried out by the Pozzuoli Company's financial police, who were conducting an investigation aimed at combating the illegal sale of non-compliant fuels and potential speculative practices in the sector.

Checks at the distributor

During the inspection, the officers took samples of diesel and gasoline from the tanks intended for sale, to check for the possible presence of illegal mixing with unsuitable and potentially dangerous substances, including solvents and used oil.

The tests, carried out with the support of the chemical laboratory of the Customs and Monopolies Agency of Naples, have highlighted a flash point for diesel fuel that is considerably lower than the minimum threshold required by the legislation, set at
55∘.

A fact considered indicative of the possible alteration of the product through the addition of other chemical substances.
Upon completion of operations, the plant manager was reported to the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of commercial fraud, a crime under Article 515 of the Criminal Code.

I agree, although it doesn't necessarily mean the entire plant is at fault; perhaps just one supplier skipped the mix. The prosecutor's office should investigate, but it will take time. There needs to be more oversight of supplies, transportation, and storage, and more information for customers.

I read the news and it seems worrying to me, but I don't quite understand: the diesel fuel seemed to be adulterated with waste oil and solvents, which can cause damage to engines and people's health, and the manager has been reported, but perhaps the suppliers should also be checked. In any case, more checks and transparency are needed.
