A major territorial control operation conducted by the Carabinieri of the Casal di Principe station led to the arrest of a 37-year-old man, accused of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. The operation, which took place yesterday evening, is part of the province's efforts to combat crime and monitor sensitive areas.
The specialized support of a canine unit from Grazzanise was crucial to the outcome of the house search, allowing the material hidden inside the suspect's home to be identified.
The raid in Casal di Principe
During the search of the bedroom, officers found a 9x21 caliber pistol, complete with magazine and nine rounds of ammunition, hidden inside a closet. Subsequent database checks confirmed that the weapon had been reported stolen last November at the Varcaturo station.
The search continued in the basement, where law enforcement discovered a second weapon inside an oven: a semi-automatic blank-firing pistol, missing its red cap and with its serial number erased. Along with the weapon, they seized approximately 200 rounds of ammunition of various calibers (including .38 Special and 9 mm Luger) and €5.810 in cash. Further investigations are ongoing into the origin of the stolen goods.
Following the formal procedures, the man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. The thirty-seven-year-old now remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities to answer the serious charges against him.
