Naples – An ingenious hiding place, carefully crafted under the body of an appliance, wasn't enough to stop the State Police. Yesterday morning, a convicted felon from the Scampia neighborhood was arrested following a swift operation that dismantled a domestic drug dealing ring.
The raid, carried out as part of the anti-drug trafficking operation, involved officers from the Naples Flying Squad and colleagues from the Scampia Police Station. The officers, following a solid investigative lead, raided two apartments and a garage owned by the man, launching a series of targeted searches.
The secret compartment and the vacuum “laboratory”
Detectives' suspicion that the man was in possession of a "significant quantity" of drugs was confirmed during the search of the first residence. There, officers discovered a specially designed compartment under a refrigerator, where a cellophane wrapper containing approximately 100 grams of pure cocaine had been hidden.
But the apartment wasn't just a warehouse: the police discovered a veritable assembly line for the retail market. Precision scales, cling film, and even a vacuum packing machine—the equipment needed to seal the doses and preserve their quality during transport—were found throughout the rooms.
The search then moved to a garage linked to the suspect. Here too, the investigators' instincts were not lacking: inside the garage, they seized another 20 grams of cocaine and additional drug packaging material.
Following the completion of the operation and the seizure of the entire drug shipment, the man was arrested. By order of the judicial authorities, the convicted felon was escorted to the "Giuseppe Salvia" prison in Poggioreale, where he remains awaiting trial.

This seems like a fairly neutral piece of news, but I don't understand many things. The man thought he was hiding the cocaine under the refrigerator, and he thought he was safe. The officers immediately raided the place and found scales, film, and vacuum packing machines. Let's hope the justice system does its job and everything is resolved.
