Naples – On April 14, Palazzo Petrucci hosted "Women for Women," an awareness-raising and fundraising evening promoted by Komen Italia – Campania Committee. The event attracted a remarkable turnout of institutional, business, and cultural figures, confirming its status as one of the most significant events in the field of cancer prevention for women in Campania.

Memory and commitment open the evening

The evening was opened by Bianca Pesante Cocozza di Montanara, a member of the organizing committee, who led the audience in a moment of reflection on the figure of Riccardo Imperiali di Francavilla, emphasizing the value of continuity based on the conscious choice to uphold his principles and values.

Following this, the President of the Campania Committee, Marzia Imperiali di Francavilla, reiterated the importance of the prevention and support activities promoted in the area: "The results already achieved by our projects demonstrate how crucial it is to create spaces of support and connection for women facing breast cancer, accompanying them on a treatment path that also takes into account their psychological and emotional well-being."

Awards to ASL Napoli 1 Centro

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of recognition plaques to Gaetano Gubitosa, General Manager of ASL Napoli 1 Centro, and Maria Corvino, Medical Director of the same health facility, demonstrating the consolidated collaboration with Komen Campania in prevention activities. This synergy takes shape every Saturday at the HUB mammography screening center at ASL Napoli 1 Centro – SS Annunziata headquarters, where meetings dedicated to women undergoing cancer treatment are held, including psychological support and integrated wellness activities.

The Voice of Women in Pink

Particularly moving was the testimony of Francesca Rando, Donna in Rosa, who explained how sharing with other women and participating in the project's activities—from group therapy to singing—represented a crucial step in facing the disease with greater strength and awareness. Marcella Montemarano, Director of the UOSD Interventional Breast Diagnostics and mammography screening coordinator at ASL Napoli 1 Centro, highlighted the importance of prevention and the daily work of a young, qualified team in ensuring accessible, high-quality services.

Institutions and civil society united

The evening was attended by distinguished figures, including His Excellency Fra Nicolò Custoza de Cattani, Grand Prior of Naples and Sicily of the Sovereign Order of Malta; Professor Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator of cultural policies for the City of Naples; Ferdinando Tozzi, the Mayor's delegate for the music and audiovisual industries; and RAI journalist Massimo Calenda. A delegation of female entrepreneurs from the Young Group of the Industrialists' Union of Naples was also present, confirming the broad support the initiative has received.

Funds raised and projects supported

The evening's proceeds will go to two key Komen Campania programs: the Prevention Caravan, which uses equipped mobile units to offer free screenings—ultrasounds and mammograms—to women not covered by the National Health Service, and the "With All the Love I Can" project, a free support program for Women in Pink that includes group therapy, therapeutic singing, and qigong practices.

The evening's closing remarks were entrusted to Daniela Chiariello, head of external relations for Komen Italia – Campania Committee, who conveyed greetings from founder Prof. Riccardo Masetti and National President Dr. Alba di Leone.

Sponsors and upcoming events

The event was made possible thanks to the contributions of numerous Campanian businesses, including Cerba Healthcare Italia, NMC Nuovo Mollificio Campano, Fondazione Cannavaro Ferrara, Parthenodental Clinic, Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Napoli, and Miamo. The support of Palazzo Petrucci was also crucial, with Edo Trotta personally attending. The next event with Komen Campania is the Race for the Cure, scheduled for October 9, 10, and 11, 2026, at the Rotonda Diaz on the Naples seafront.

Editorials (1)

A useful evening with many important guests, but many things remain unclear: the organization did not explain it well and the role of ASLNapoli1Centro remains ill-defined, the speeches were too short, the testimonies from DonneinRosa were touching, but the projects arrived confused and fragmented.
