Naples – The Basic Taxi Drivers Committee – Sitan/ATN, together with Unimpresa, is taking action to clarify the banner displayed in Piazza Municipio in memory of the tragically deceased truck driver Luigi Nappo. "We believe this statement is appropriate to accurately inform the industry and the public, given the distorted reports circulating in the press," the organizers emphasize.

The banner—which read a message of solidarity among road workers ("Whether goods or people")—was created by the Committee in conjunction with the other unions involved. The decision to simply sign it "Taxi Napoli" stemmed from a specific desire: faced with a tragedy that struck a worker, the entire category was involved, without division or self-promotion. "In times like these, taxi drivers don't have unions," the Committee stated. "This is our approach: consistency and respect, not self-promotion."

The statement reiterates that the goal was to express human and professional solidarity, beyond organizational affiliations, in a gesture of unity that brought together those who share the daily challenges of roadwork. The statement concludes with the signature of the Basic Taxi Drivers Committee, confirming their desire to maintain a responsible and constructive approach, avoiding any form of exploitation.

I think it's right that a demonstration of condolences was held, but the message is a bit confusing and doesn't explain the responsibilities well. The taxi drivers were all lumped together without saying who's speaking, and this could create misunderstandings, so more precise explanations from the committee are needed.
