During checks in eastern Naples, the State Police arrested two people in separate operations conducted by officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station. They are a 29-year-old Neapolitan man and a 22-year-old from Ercolano. The former was arrested on charges of smuggling foreign-manufactured tobacco, while the latter was arrested for resisting a public officer and dangerous flight.

The 29-year-old was also charged with two traffic violations: driving without a license and not having insurance.
The control in Corso San Giovanni

The first intervention took place on Corso San Giovanni, where officers stopped a scooter carrying the 29-year-old. From the first moments, the man showed signs of nervousness and impatience during the checks.

The suspicious behavior prompted the officers to conduct a more thorough investigation. Their hunch proved correct: the young man was found in possession of 90 cartons of foreign-produced tobacco without the State Monopoly mark, for a total weight of
18 kilograms.

The escape to the A1

A second intervention was carried out on Via delle Repubbliche Marinare. There, officers noticed a car carrying the 22-year-old who, upon seeing the patrol, suddenly changed direction in an attempt to evade detection.
A chase ensued, during which the young man performed maneuvers deemed dangerous for traffic safety. The chase ended at a lay-by near the Casoria junction on the A1 motorway, where police managed to subdue him.

At the end of the operation, the State Police arrested the two men. The 29-year-old will be charged with smuggling foreign manufactured tobacco, as well as the traffic violations. The 22-year-old, on the other hand, is charged with resisting a public officer and reckless evasion.
